Decorating Your Home for the 4th of July

When it comes to holiday home décor, Christmas and Halloween take the cake for most people. Why not decorate for other holidays, too, like Independence Day? Show a little Patriotism with these  tips on how to decorate your home for the 4th of July.

Be Subtle When You Can

You don’t need every decoration to have a flag or stripes or stars on it: Red, White and Blue will work just fine! Whether it’s adding some cute pillows to your patio furniture, draping a quilt across your Couch, or using a patriotic table cloth… Red, White and Blue goes a long way.

Containers and Hanging Plants Work Perfectly

It’s hard to find a flower that is a true blue—most are a variation of purples and lavenders. However, this particular plant, Wave Petunias, have the perfect colors!  If you’d like a red, white, and blue hanging basket with more variety and texture, try a combination of Calibrachoa ‘Cabaret Purple’, Verbena ‘Aztec Cherry Red’, Snapdragon (Antirrhinum ’Bells White’).

Spruce up Your Front Door!

The first thing someone sees when they come to your home is your front door, so why not make it pretty with a wreath? Plus, wreaths are easy to store and even easier to switch out according to the holiday or season.

Get Crafty

These crafts are kid and grown-up friendly! Crafting is a great way to have some fun while you decorate, and show off your creative side to your friends and family. These patriotic crafts are inexpensive and not very time consuming.

Table Décor

A tablecloth, cups, plates, and napkins can all help you decorate patriotically. Add layers to your Fourth of July tablescape by mixing patterns in patriotic colors. To keep the different print from looking too busy, be sure to use one large, one medium, and one small-scale print through the linens and serve ware.

Decorate With Food

Lastly, decorate with food! Have fun decorating these tasty treats, and you won’t have to worry about storing them for next year!
